The Beach Boys sneak into my set!

I’ve been a long time fan of this truly stellar American band!  Brian Wilson’s brilliant writing and arranging highlighted by the band’s impeccably complex and rich vocal harmonies makes their music an attractive if not challenging project to arrange for solo fingerstyle guitar.  My initial targets of “California Girls” and “Good Vibrations” proved to be enough of a challenge to warrant more time and examination to distill down to six strings.  I will be chipping away at those worthy pieces for a while.  In the mean time, I have found a few other gems that lent themselves to sweet little arrangements.  I’ve added “Don’t Worry Baby” and “In My Room” to my repertoire. Like the music of The Beatles, The Beach Boys music is a rich vein to mine for melodies and harmonic subtleties that are rewarding to take on!

“GUITARtistry” expands to 2 Nights at Golden Goose!

I’ve been enjoying my performances at Golden Goose each Wednesday.  It’s a nice room to play with good sight lines and decent acoustics.  Efren and Debbie have decided to expand my presence to two nights per week by adding Tuesday nights to the schedule.  If you haven’t been there yet or it’s been a while, why not plan to come for dinner soon?  They have a great menu with reasonable prices!  I perform from 5 – 8pm.  See you soon…
