This concert has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and hope that you will consider joining us in the fall when we resume the series!

There is a new dinner and music concert series cooking in west Sedona this season. Saturday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m. the event will feature the solo guitar artistry of Rick Cyge at Greg Lawson Galleries in West Sedona.

This new music concert series is collaboration between The Golden Goose American Grill, Gerardo’s Italian Kitchen and the treasure that is Greg Lawson Galleries. “We have put together a perfect Sedona evening out for each night of the new monthly concert series which offers a memorable evening of dining, live music and stunning photographic art,” Cyge said. “All are within a short walk or drive of one another. By purchasing concert tickets in advance, concert-goers will receive discount coupons for the restaurants to use the evening of the show.”

Greg Lawson Galleries features Lawson’s exquisite nature and wildlife photography created from travels to every corner of the world. In the inspiring setting, Cyge will perform his unique fingerstyle “Guitar Artistry” with arrangements of music from Paul Simon, Elvis, The Eagles, Steely Dan, and more! Listen to samples at www.RickCyge.com.  Cyge’s CDs will be for sale at the performance.

Over the past few years, Cyge, a versatile composer and arranger, has turned his focus to assembling a vast repertoire of fingerstyle guitar arrangements of the music of the Baby Boomer era. He explained, “My approach is to identify the key elements of the song, the melody, harmonic structure and rhythmic style and weave these elements into a solo guitar piece that marries those elements into a single cohesive guitar interpretation.  The first challenge is to identify songs that have the essential elements needed to create this type of arrangement.  Not all great songs work as instrumental pieces and conversely, some somewhat mediocre songs translate well as solo guitar pieces.  I do incorporate the use of a phrase sampler to accomplish this live with some very complex pieces such as The Beach Boys’ ‘California Girls’ where so much is happening that I need to layer some of the elements to get them all together – too much to pack into a single guitar part!  I also create rhythm sections for some pieces assembling bass, drum, and percussion parts to embellish the arrangements and record these using keyboards in the studio.  I use these mixes to accompany my live performance of those pieces, i.e., Steely Dan’s ‘Rikki Don’t Lose That Number.’  In the end, it is always about the solo guitar arrangement of the song.”

Dinner reservations strongly suggested, allowing time for both dining and the nearby concert during the evening. The Golden Goose American Grill is located in west Sedona at 2545 W. Hwy 89A. West Sedona’s new dinner and music concert series continues this month as fingerstyle guitar master, Rick Cyge shares your favorites from The Beatles. “We have put together a perfect Sedona evening out for each night of the new monthly concert series which offers a memorable evening of dining, live music and stunning photographic art,” producer/guitarist Rick Cyge said. “This new music series is collaboration with two of West Sedona’s finest restaurants, Golden Goose American Grill and Gerardo’s Italian Kitchen and the treasure that is Greg Lawson Galleries. All are within a short walk or drive of one another. By purchasing concert tickets in advance, concert-goers will receive discount coupons for use for dinner the night of the show.”

With a Beatles repertoire of more than fifty of their songs, Cyge comments, “The hardest part of putting this concert set together is deciding which gems to include! Re-experience The Beatles’ vast and varied music from the early hit, ‘I Saw Her Standing There’, to their later gems including ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’!”

Respected and admired by peers and fans for his playing finesse and prowess and as a composer and arranger known for his subtle and intricate approach to coaxing what often sounds like more than one guitar out of his instrument. “For this special concert I invite you to experience the “Fab Four” performed on one guitar!”

His love affair with the acoustic guitar began about fifty years ago when, barely old enough to handle a guitar, he first heard the likes of ‘Peter, Paul & Mary’ and the ‘Kingston Trio’. That was enough to get his attention and fire his imagination.  “When I first heard The Beatles, I was barely 13 and my world was forever changed. ‘That’s what I want to do!’ I thought.”

Cyge has nine CDs to his credit, many with his wife in the duo, ‘Meadowlark,’ and numerous projects as a sideman in the studio for various artists. In the last few years, Cyge has recorded and released two self-produced solo fingerstyle guitar CDs, “GUITARtistry” and “GUITARtistry 2” featuring his guitar artistry through his arrangements of what he refers to as “Baby Boomer Classics” with a few original compositions included. The next recording project in cue is an entire CD of his own arrangements of the songs of The Beatles.  “I’m very excited about this project as I devote my undivided attention to polishing and refining my versions of many of my favorite Beatles songs.  I feel like a kid in a candy store; so much extraordinary music to choose from, so little space on a CD!”  Cyge hopes to complete and release this recording before year’s end.  This concert will be a glimpse into that adventure!

Greg Lawson Galleries features Lawson’s exquisite nature and wildlife photography created from travels to every corner of the world. Cyge commented, “The photography is an overwhelming feast for the eye!  I am excited to be performing in this inspiring setting.”

“We have put together a perfect Sedona evening out for each night of the new monthly concert series which offers a memorable evening of dining, live music and stunning photographic art,” producer/guitarist Rick Cyge said. “This new music series is collaboration with two of West Sedona’s finest restaurants, Golden Goose American Grill and Gerardo’s Italian Kitchen, and the treasure that is Greg Lawson Galleries. Over the past several years, Cyge has established himself in Sedona and Northern Arizona as a popular and respected instrumental fingerstyle guitarist arranging a variety of “Baby Boomer” classic songs for solo guitar.  While his focus over the past twenty five years has been instrumental music, both as a soloist and in his guitar/flute duo with his wife, Lynn Trombetta as Meadowlark, his roots run deep in folk and acoustic music where he spent much of his music career as a singer/guitarist.  For much of his career, he performed his unique arrangements of classic and contemporary folk and “singer/songwriter” songs as well as his own songs in folk clubs, coffeehouses and concerts.  During his years in Boston and New England (1978-88), he created and ran Wood & Strings Music Center, a folk music school, guitar and recording shop and concert venue that quickly became one of the hubs for the vibrant folk & acoustic music scene.  During that time, he came to know many of the upcoming singer/songwriters and singer/guitarists who were to become well established national artists over time.  It was artists like Chris Smither, Patty Larkin, Nancy Griffith, John Gorka, and David Wilcox who shaped his own style and tastes in regards to repertoire and stage presence as he incorporated their songs into his sets.  Cyge has a keen ear for exceptional songs with well crafted guitar accompaniment that, together, create a memorable listening experience for his listeners.

Greg Lawson Galleries features Lawson’s exquisite nature and wildlife photography created from travels to every corner of the world. Cyge comments, “The photography is an overwhelming feast for the eye!  I am excited to be performing in this inspiring setting.”

Get Your Tickets: Meadowlark Concert Saturday, March 25, 2017 in Sedona!

Tickets (please use drop down menu to select # of tickets desired)

There is a new dinner and music concert series cooking in west Sedona this season! On Saturday, March 25, at 7:30 p.m. the second concert in this exciting new series will feature the nature-inspired music of Meadowlark at Greg Lawson Galleries in West Sedona.  Meadowlark features fingerstyle guitarist, Rick Cyge and Lynn Trombetta performing on flute and Irish whistles.

All are within a short walk or drive of one another. By purchasing concert tickets in advance, concert-goers will receive discount coupons for use for dinner the night of the show.”

Listen to samples of Meadowlark’s music here.  You can watch videos of their live performance here.  Meadowlark CD, regularly priced at $20, will be just $15 at the performance that night only!

“Meadowlark’s captivating, organic music is as distinctive in sound as it is diverse in scope as the skillful combination of a single guitar and solo flute creates music that is both intimate and grand that floats gently, following the land and dances like a butterfly in the breeze,” a reviewer said.

Greg Lawson Galleries features Lawson’s exquisite nature and wildlife photography created from travels to every corner of the world. Cyge comments, “The photography is an overwhelming feast for the eyes, and our original music compositions capture the essence of beautiful, natural places we have traveled. We are excited to be showcasing Meadowlark in this inspiring setting that is such a perfect match for our music.”

This intriguing husband and wife duo began their musical journey together in 1993, playing Celtic music in a small café in a beautiful pecan orchard, and soon evolved into creating their own music inspired by the natural settings to which they were drawn. Choosing the name “Meadowlark,” they soon gained audiences for their performances of instrumental compositions inspired by the desert southwest region, including “Creek Spirit”, written about Trombetta’s experience in the canyons of Sedona, where she spent her childhood summers, playing her flute from high and allowing the sounds to waft down through Oak Creek.

Cyge’s original compositions show his range and deep musicality as both a composer and guitarist. The harp-like sound of his fingerstyle guitar technique intertwines with the pure, melodic tones of Trombetta’s flutes and Irish whistles as Meadowlark’s performance slips effortlessly from melodic tapestries to crisp and exciting up-tempo offerings that catch the ear and command attention.

Being in tune with nature is no cliché for these two thought provoking instrumentalists, and the evening promises to be a memorable musical and visual experience.

Greg Lawson said, “It is Nature which serves us so well, and I want my work to convey that power. The presence of Nature is unbelievable, unimaginable! For me it ‘does it’ for all of us if we let it. When people can allow someone else’s artwork to take them there, to let them soar, to let them fly, it’s a beautiful experience.”

Dinner reservations strongly suggested allowing time for both dining and the concert during the evening. The Golden Goose American Grill is located in west Sedona at 2545 W. Hwy 89A. Schedule change at Golden Goose American Grill and more…

Posted by on Dec 15, 2015 in gig news!

RC by Barb Caligari - enhanced

While I continue to perform three nights per week at Golden Goose American Grill (formerly Golden Goose Café & Bistro),  My Wednesdays have shifted to Thursday nights.  So you can find me there every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday night.

I’m “seasoning” my sets this month with a few holiday favorites to get us in the mood.  Some other recent additions to my set includes songs by Eric Clapton, Harry Chapin, John Denver, Neil Diamond, Spirit, Toto, Grateful Dead and The Bothers Four.  How’s that for diversity?!

Another new development…  I will now be performing two Wednesdays per month at the Grill at ShadowRock at the Hilton in Village of Oak Creek.  See my performance calendar on my web site, www.rickcyge.com for details.

I wish all my friends and music fans a happy and healthy holiday season!  I hope to see you soon…
