The Story Behind Lost & Found Folk
After more than sixty years of making music, I've come to realize that some of the finest songs ever written quietly fade away over time.
Some were once widely known. Others never found the audience they deserved. Yet they continue to move us because they speak to something timeless in the human experience.
My Lost & Found Folk project grew from a lifelong gratitude for the songwriters whose music has enriched my life and a desire to share that gift with others.
It began with a carefully curated playlist built primarily around recordings by the original writers and artists. Alongside those recordings are a handful of my own interpretations of these timeless classics, as well as a few of my original songs that I hope reflect the same spirit of thoughtful songwriting.
Many of the artists and songwriters represented here have been part of my own musical journey. Some became friends. Others became lasting influences through their music. Every one of them strengthened my appreciation for the craft of songwriting and inspired me to share these remarkable songs with new listeners.
As the project grew, so did the vision. What began as a playlist evolved into the Lost & Found Folk video series—brief introductions to songs that deserve to be heard again, honoring both the music and the people who created it.
That's why I created Lost & Found Folk—to celebrate the writers, performers, and songs that have enriched my life and, I hope, will enrich yours as well. The Lost & Found Folk video series features my own acoustic interpretations of these remarkable songs. Each episode begins with a brief introduction about the songwriter, the song's history, or why the song has remained meaningful to me over the years.
Rather than presenting the entire song, I perform a verse and chorus—or another brief excerpt—to introduce you to the music and inspire you to discover (or rediscover) the complete song.
