Many years ago, I had the opportunity to drive Maria Muldaur through Sedona, Arizona after one of her performances.  I had booked her to perform at the Old Town Center for the Arts in nearby Cottonwood, and she told me she was disappointed - she thought she was playing in Sedona and was looking forward to seeing the red rocks.  She asked me to take her to Sedona the next morning after her performance so she could see the famous red rock canyon before she left.

Along the way she asked if I had any recordings of my own music, so I played my recording with Chris Seymour of Paul Siebel's "Louise."

She listened quietly, taking in the music and the scenery.

When it ended, she offered a compliment about the recording that left me speechless:
“That's the best version of that song I've ever heard."
More than ten years later, I still smile when I think about that moment.

Curious to hear the recording Maria heard that day?   Listen to it here.
